Educational aim: By the end of the lesson , ss will be able understand about the school’s competitions 2. Knowledge: ( Language , Structures , New words ). -Teacher helps students know school’s competitions -Grammar: Simple past -Vocabulary: Competition, annualy, stimulate, spirit 3.Skills: - Develop such reading develop such reading micro-skills as scanning for specific ideas and identifying meaning in context. -Use the information they have read to discuss the related topic II. Methods : Mainly communicative approach and Integrated other suitable methods III. Teaching aids: • Teacher : A lesson plan , posters / slices , papers . • Students : prepare new words .Write forms of Simple past at home Reading the passage( page 67 ) and prepare the tasks (page 68) IV. Pre - reading (10 minutes) - Introduces the topic of the lesson and get Ss to work - Guess in pairs and answer the questions on page 67 - Ask students some questions: - Listen 1. Do you take part in the competitions like this? - Listen 2. Do you hope to win a competition? If so, which competition would you like to win? 3. Is winning the most important thing in a competition? Why / Why not? - Give feedback - Answer 1. Yes, Because I want to overcome myself 2. Yes, I do. I like to win in Quiz:”Road to Mount Olympia” 3.No, it isn’t.   3. →Set the scene: You are going to about a school’s competition Task 2(19m) - Asks Ss skim the 6 questions to understand them - Asks them to read carefully the passage again - Read again - Ask sts “ lucky competition” Individual work and group work - Then T gets Ss to check their answer with a partner - Read again - Calls some Ss to read aloud their answer and ask - Perform them to explain their choices - T gives feedback Suggested answers: 1. The representatives of three classes of the speaker’s school (line 1, paragraph 1). 2. The aim was to stimulate the spirit of learning English• among students (lines 3-4, paragraph 1). 3. The students’ Parents Society (line 4, paragraph 1). 4. They had to complete 5 activities in all. On completion of each activity, they had to answer the questions in the worksheets within 2 minutes (lines 1- 4, paragraph 2). 5. They had to observe and score the students’ performance. A maximum score for each activity was 6. At the end of the competition they would announce the total score of each group. The group that got the highest scores will be the winner (lines 4-7, paragraph 2). 6.(.
